BUNKHAUS was founded by Jason Clifton and Jeremy Bauer, the designers behind Bauer/Clifton Interiors. What began as a shared interior design practice evolved into a physical space where their aesthetic, values, and way of working could exist outside of client projects.

Through years of designing residential and commercial interiors, Jason and Jeremy developed a point of view grounded in restraint, warmth, and function. Their work prioritizes form and function equally, favoring spaces that feel intentional without being overdesigned. BUNKHAUS grew naturally out of that studio practice as a place to curate the objects, materials, and pieces they consistently returned to when building interiors and shaping daily life.

The name BUNKHAUS references the historic bunkhouses found throughout Alaska. These simple structures were built for shelter, rest, and community. They were practical spaces designed for real use rather than display. That sensibility continues to guide the shop. Objects are chosen for how they live, wear, and age, supporting a way of living that is intentional and grounded.

BUNKHAUS brings together modern and vintage home goods, everyday essentials, art, and gifts that reflect the Bauer Clifton design language. Each piece is boldly designed, whether vintage or new, selected for its presence, utility, and character. Many items are sourced from makers and artists whose work aligns with these values, alongside pieces discovered through travel and long-standing relationships with small studios and brands.

Located in The Clock District of downtown Juneau, BUNKHAUS is both a retail space and an extension of the design studio’s philosophy. Thoughtful interiors are built from meaningful objects, and the best spaces come together over time.
