Sascha Brastoff (1917–1993) was a multifaceted American artist whose career spanned performance, costume design, and ceramics. In 1947, he established a ceramics studio in Los Angeles, which became renowned for its mid-century modern designs and employed a team of artists to produce his creations. Among his notable works is the “Alaska Series,” a collection of ceramics that depict Alaskan wildlife and indigenous themes.
Crafted in high-gloss ceramic with a warm honey-yellow to ivory ombré finish, this tall cylindrical vase showcases a finely hand-painted Dall sheep motif set against subtle rock and grass accents. Its clean, slender silhouette and gently flared lip embody mid-century modern elegance while highlighting Brastoff’s meticulous craftsmanship.
