Sascha Brastoff Alaska Series Dish - Inuit

Sascha Brastoff (1917–1993) was a multifaceted American artist whose career spanned performance, costume design, and ceramics. In 1947 he founded a Los Angeles studio celebrated for its sleek, mid-century modern pottery and richly detailed glazes. His Alaska Series—a collaboration with Matthew Adams—captures Arctic wildlife and indigenous motifs in bold ombré finishes.

Crafted in high-gloss glazed ceramic with a deep forest-green to ivory ombré, this large rectangular dish features a finely hand-painted Inuit figure set against stylized mountain and snow-line accents. Its gently sloping sides and smooth glaze exemplify Brastoff’s elegant modernist aesthetic while honoring Alaska’s rugged beauty.
